So it is a few days after Inhuman played Providence RI for the Built To Last Fest. As it turns out, it had been about 9 yrs since the band set foot in RI too. The last time we did was at a place called The Living Room with All Out War and several other bands. That was the first show (prior to 2008) where Inhuman had 2 guitarists. Our friend Dennis played with us for all of 2 shows and it just didn't work out. Aside from that fun fact, I don't remember the show too well.
Although Inhuman has been a band for 14 years, many kids, especially new kids, have no clue who we are. We did the BLT show missing 2 of our main guys, Hank and Nick and had our friends Larry and Matt from Sub Zero fill in. Let me say THANK YOU to both Larry and Matt for doing a great job and being very cool to be in a van with for about 8 hrs in total. I also say THANKS to Chuck for doing the merch for us and to Brian for driving us to and from. You guys are awesome. And THANKS to Degenerate booking for getting us on the show.
Inhuman went on @ 5:00 pm instead of 5:30 due to one of the opening bands cancelling, not that big of a deal, but the band on downstairs before us was Cruel Hand, a newer HC band with a huge buzz and a lot of kids loved them. They are a good band and deserve the props, I must say. So we go on upstairs after them on a different stage and play in front of about 100 or so people at the most. I have a feeling many did not know who we were at all, but that is understandable. Inhuman isnt a touring band, and that is something Id love to see change, but we shall see.
We got so me good feedback from the crowd for sure, but no dancing, a lot of applause and a lot of well... just watching and nodding. That's better than walking out or booing for sure! Ha!
From the one review of the set I saw the day or 2 following, I read that Inhuman was more of a
"Punk / Metal" band... I will take that. But I guess that person didn't know that Hardcore comes from Punk and (somewhat) from Metal, so oh well. The person also said that he thought we were a "NYDM" band... which means New York Death Metal. Wrong again pal. I think we played our asses off and put on a good set. We sold a few shirts and cds and made some new fans, mission accomplished.
For the past say 8 shows or so, we have been closing with a Metallica cover, "Motorbreath" . I love that song and I love Metallica (the good shit) but I think it is time to retire that song for shows. I'm just getting sick of it and I really would like to do an old Punk or Hardcore song, or no covers at all for a while.
Inhuman is in an odd place I think. To some we are too Metal, to others not enough. To some we are too Punk. Personally, I view Inhuman as a Hardcore band. But one that isn't affraid to mix it up. One that embodies the spirit of HC/Punk, which is to not play it safe and to follow your own lead. Some get it, some do not, but we are thankfull nonetheless.
I'm looking forward to playing shows in the summer, in the heat.
I feel like I put on a much better show when it's hot outside..it pumps me up. Were playing in Albany and in NYC in June and I'm looking forward to the shows big time.
Bands I thought were awesome at the Built To Last Fest:
- THE CARRIER - form MASS, cool guys who helped us with gear, need to get their stuff
- THE MONGOLOIDS - NJHC with a unique sound and great energy
- STRENGTH FOR A REASON - great PAHC band
- INTENT TO INJURE - a band from the 80's that KILLED IT
- WISDOM IN CHAINS - the best new HC band out there, bar none
- BREAKDOWN - one of my all time faves
- SKARHEAD - strippers on stage = never a bad thing
I missed CRUEL HAND, COLIN OF ARABIA, DEATH THREAT and MADBALL.
CH because we were setting up upstairs, COA & DT due to merch duties and MADBALL because we had to leave to get home.

Yeah, I'm bad with updating this...
but, I have made a promise to myself (one that I hope to keep) to post on here more.
So it's May 7th 2009 and here in Brooklyn it has been raining A LOT for the past week or so.
In some ways I don't care about the weather at all, but my shop, the Brooklyn Monster Factory, tends to do awful biz in this kind of weather so Im hoping "spring" will actually take place this year. More than likely we will go straight to summer it seems.
Anyway, who the hell is reading this?
It's not like I promote this page, but I think I will starting ... today?
This Saturday my band INHUMAN is making a 3 and a half hour trip to Rhode Island to play a the Built To Last Festival @ a place called CLUB HELL. We go on at 5:30pm. Some great HC bands are playing like WISDOM IN CHAINS, BREAKDOWN & MADBALL, so it's worth it just to play with those 3 bands. I just hope kids check us out as we NEVER get asked to play shows like this. Also of note is that INHUMAN will be missing Hank and Nick for this show, to be replaced by Matt and Larry of SUB ZERO, so this is more like "SUB HUMAN" or "IN ZERO".
Were jamming with those guys again tonight for the last time before the show, hope we can kick some ass in RI.

I guess I was busy....
Over a YEAR later and here I am, posting a second blog.
But you know what? I am a busy guy.
I have 2 jobs, a band, a girlfriend, a cat and a lot of hobbies.
But I WILL be doing more with this page for sure. It's December, so my "Top 10" for music is on it's way. Like last year, it consists mainly of Metal music, but my #1 is not a Metal record.
My "second job", is co-owner of The Brooklyn Monster Factory, a comic store I have with my brother Jon in Park Slope. We opened on April 1st 2006 and we are sadly facing the possibility of closing down by the end of January. Why? Quite simply, people are not spending $ on comic books like they were just a few months ago and we have lost A LOT of money. Hopefully things will pick up soon as I don't want to close.
Here is the store address/info for all interested in stopping by:

Anyway, I decided to start this thing as a way to promote not just myself, but to review movies, music and and anything else that I like.
This is a work in progesss for sure, so bare with me.
